Cocaine, Oxy, Ghost Gun Loaded With Magazine Seized From Youngsters In Maryland

Illegal weapons and drugs were seized from several teens during two separate traffic stops within a week of each other in Maryland, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Tuesday, June 21, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced that officers had arrested Hyattsville resident Javier Reyes, 19, Riverdale resident Alexander Sandeep Borge, 19, and two 16-year-old minors for illegally possessing firearms and controlled dangerous substances.

The first stop was conducted at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, a member of the 4th District Community Action Team (CAT) was patrolling the area of Wheaton/Glenmont when he observed a black 2020 Hyundai Elantra committing a traffic violation, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said.

During the subsequent traffic stop, it is alleged that a search of the Hyundai led to the seizure of marijuana and a loaded Ruger LC9 9mm handgun.

Reyes was taken into custody and charged with illegal possession of a firearm and controlled dangerous substance-related charges, according to the sheriff.

He is being held without bond.

The second stop was conducted at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 when another member of the CAT was patrolling the area of Georgia Avenue and Bel Pre Road when a driver passed with expired Maryland registration plates.

Officers made contact with Borge and the other teens, who were in possession of a large glass jar with marijuana in the back seat, the spokesperson said. A search of the vehicle also led to the discovery of illegal firearms.

Members of the sheriff’s office seized:

  • A loaded privately made firearm (PMF), also known as a “ghost gun,” with an extended magazine;
  • A loaded Kahn .45 caliber handgun;
  • A loaded 9mm magazine;
  • A “large quantity” of marijuana.

The three teens were arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they were charged with illegal possession of firearm and controlled dangerous substance-related charges.

Investigators noted that the juveniles will be charged as adults. Borge is being held without bond.
